From Managing Anxiety to Thriving Amid Uncertainty
In our last post, we explored how anxiety often stems from uncertainty – and how reminding ourselves of our capability can be a powerful antidote. But once we acknowledge that we can handle uncertainty, what’s next? This post explores building ongoing resilience , so that your calm and confidence aren’t fleeting, but lasting.
Resilience isn’t about eliminating discomfort – it’s about creating a foundation so you can remain grounded even when discomfort arises. One of the most helpful tools is creating anchors in your day or week. These are consistent, calming routines or actions that remind your nervous system: ” Not everything is unknown”.
These could be:
- a grounding morning ritual (a short walk, tea, journaling)
- weekly check-ins with a friend
- a predictable bedtime routine
Also, the more you gently and intentionally, expose yourself to small uncertainties, and get through them, the more your nervous system learns you are safe. This is how we train ourselves not just to endure uncertainty but to grow through it.
Try:
- saying yes to something you are uncertain about
- journaling about “what’s the worst that could happen?” and how you’d handle it
